Can
the human system function closed?
Living 'inside' a system we can get the illusion of an infinite totality. A scientific approach, on the contrary, points to the relativity of our presupposed 'totality'. Our human system is itself an included one. Included in a more larger total system. Not only included by it but, what is even a lot more important, open on it.
Facing our modern certainty there arises a terrible question: can this our exponentially growing human system be self-sufficient and enclosed on itself?

Our human system functions with powerful spiritual dynamics, especially as it functions exponentially. Powerfull systemic dynamics need essentially three kind of inputs: (1) a powerfull hot spring, (2) a deep cold well and (3) charged accumulators. An exponentially growing system needs such three imputs also growing exponentially. Is this possible in a closed system?

Our modernity is constituted gradually by buckling the human reign on
itself. The entire human system wants to function in locking
up.
For the first time since man exists, a cultural system claims to be
enclosed in absolute autonomy. It is in self-sufficiency that it
wants to function and progress. It is even by auto-creation it wants
to be. From now on it aims to be made the creative single hot source
of all his spiritual energy. The total sense locked up in immanence
and in total finiteness. Forgetting completely the problem of its
entropy and its fatal non-entropy. Forgetting its 'cold well'.
Forgetting its accumulators not yet completely discharged and without
which its claims of autonomy would pass out.
By
which miracle wouldn't the human condition buckled on itself succumb
to its entropy? Our modernity lives in the illusion of such a
miracle. Dazzled by our possibilities, without going back to the
major reasons of this possibilities, we believe that humanity is by
itself and for itself its own hot source. Why couldn't man, architect
of his tool system, designer of texture, creator of text, be also
forger of what comes to him from elsewhere, by grace?

Can
man give to himself his own hot source? What is remarkable is
that all the cultures, except the modern one, functioned or continue
to function with a powerful hot source and accumulators of sense
quite charged. Powerful hot source of absolute meaning: God, Being,
Cosmos, Nature, Order, Values… Accumulators of sense charged with
huge tradition-transmission of important signifiers.
All
these cultures function in homeo-stasis with an ecosystem of total
and global sense. And until their decline, the signifiant non-entropy
defies victoriously the entropic fate of the degradation of sense.
Here it is not about such or such particular sense but about the
total sense, to some extent the sense
of sense,
the sense of any possible sense, the radical donation of sense, the
'vitality' of the sense in general.
The anthropocentric
schizoid disorder, by which the modernity comes to itself, buckles
the autonomy in total closing of the human condition on itself. For
the first time since man exists, the human make-up system wants to
function by heating continuously the hot source of its sense and of
its significances. And thus by reloading by itself and from itself
its semantic accumulators.
Mortal
indifference… The sense, child of the difference, functions between
an hot source and a cold well. Its dynamics is function of this
potential
difference.
The larger it is, the more relevant is the sense.

Why
do civilizations die? The answer is obvious. They die when they come
out of breath…
The reason is not different from what governs the dead of any alive
system. It is formulated in a very simple way. A living being
dies when it gets closed and, while being closed, loses its potential
difference and thus succumbs to its entropy.
Why
can the sense die? The sense dies when energy is degraded for lack
of potential
difference.
Very concretely, when the challenges
are not taken up any more.

We
wanted to be masters and owners of the total system itself. Much
more, masters and owners also of his hot source and its cold well.
Masters and owners, therefore, of all its potential difference, of
all its creative spiritual energy.
Our
sin
against the ecosystem of the breath is to deny its essential opening.
We believe falsely to be able to make it function in closing,
contracted on itself, buckled in schizoid auto-productive autonomy.
